We have been sending treadle sewing machines to Eritrea for years. Many of these machines were collected by our trade union colleagues from Sehnde. We send the sewing machines to the Eritrean war-disabled and disabled persons’ association, which then distributes them.
In this way, war-disabled women can develop a new perspective on life and are no longer forced to be idle. This gives them back their dignity. The pictures were provided by Martin Zimmermann from the EHD.
